ICOMAM RIO 2008

Join ICOMAM’s first South American conference in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where colleagues from arms and military museums around the world will meet, sharing knowledge and experiences among diferent cultures and continents and making strategies for a positive future. Conference sessions will take place in the mornings and visitations to the Brazilian museums in the afternoons.

Main Theme of the Congress:
- “Making Strategies for a Positive Future”
Sub-themes:
- “New Worlds of Arms” (from small arms to artillery)
- “Military and Naval Power and the Making of States”
- “Military Heritage from the Sea”
Notes:
- Papers about conservation projects, display techniques, new research, marketing strategies and others topics related to the subject are welcome.
- The papers to be presented must be related to the ICOMAM matter: Museology and not History, but interpreting history or how it is presented in an exposition is welcome.
- The “heritage from the sea” has been added so as to include both military and naval arms including cannons and other objects, in view of the intensive diving activities on shipwrecks.
- The conference will include in its sessions time for questions and answers.
